DAILY DISH - Is that Lumpy's Missing Food Replicator?!

Lumpy heard about a new documentary about food called Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs so he decided to check it out because it looked simply delish. But after viewing the documentary, Lumpy was shocked to discover another food replicator that looked suspiciously like his missing unit.

After watching the recent District 9 documentary and dealing with the MNU, including the disappearance of his Agent, Lumpy is starting to wonder if there is some kind of Earthling policy to borrow alien technology and to adapt it to questionable uses.

Lumpy’s now rummaging through his stuff to see if other high tech Zgrunturian gizmos are missing…

Daily Dish - Lumpy in Michael Jackson Tribute at the VMAs?

Sources close to MTV say Lumpy may join Janet Jackson on the stage Sunday night at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards with dancers who were to perform with Michael Jackson on his now-cancelled This Is It tour.

It’s rumored that MTV and Lumpy have been in talks for some time regarding this event being held at the Radio City Music Hall in New York. MTV general manager Stephen Friedman apparently has been overheard discussing the need to “…get Lumpy onboard to add an intergalactic dimension to the tribute in honor of Michael’s legacy as Captain Eo. Michael’s pioneering work as an interstellar statesman in the alpha quadrant needs to be recognized."

When reached for comment, Lumpy's Agent said, "I have no statement about my client’s rumored appearance at the VMA's, but he thinks he may have met Michael a long time ago in Zgrunturos. If such rumors were true, he would have enjoyed performing with Michael. Lumpy also would have shown Michael Episode 2 of QuitIt!, because he thinks it would be a Thriller, just like Michael."

Daily Dish - Lumpy the next American Idol?

…as a judge?

It seems that our blobby blue friend has found himself yet another guilty pleasure: American Idol.

Sources close to Lumpy’s Agent have passed on the word that Lumpy is “extremely interested” in becoming the next judge for American Idol and may be in line to be the next guest judge for American Idol after Kristin Chenoweth.

Negotiations with the Fox people have allegedly been underway for some time.

According to a source not so close to Lumpy’s Agent, the major sticking point in the negotiations has been the Fox execs’ concern about how Lumpy would potentially upset the on-air chemistry of the judges on the show.

The recent revelation about the friction between the Lumpster and the RPattz earlier this year on the set of the Twilight sequel may have made the suits over at Fox nervous.

Perhaps they don’t want a repeat performance between their star Simon Cowell and Lumpy? Or could it be that Mr. Cowell has been voicing concerns about being upstaged by Lumpy?

When asked to comment on the situation, Lumpy’s Agent said, “Look, I can’t confirm or deny any of my client’s potential projects at this time. But I can say that Lumpy enjoys watching American Idol and Episode 2 of QuitIt! is coming in September.”

Da Lump is back!

Our wayward alien buddy Lumpy is finally back, after freaking out about the MNU coming after him.

He’s managed to elude us over the weekend, only staying in communications via texting.

We had reports of him slipping into the grand opening of New People in San Francisco over the weekend, but other than that, he’s been quite elusive. We started to wonder if he brought another kind of alien tech from Zgrunturos besides his food replicator. Like a cloaking device.

Well, in the end, we needed no high-tech doodad to lure the Lumpster back to our studio.

Our bait of choice to capture the Lumpster?

A nice hot bowl of pho, natch!

We did, however, set up a little trap for the Lumpster as seen in the pic here.

So, here’s how it went down. We sent him a text yesterday telling him that we have a nice bowl of steaming hot pho at our studio.

We were waiting for him to come through our studio doors, but Lumpy somehow got into the studio unnoticed (hmm, cloaking device???). We realized this when we saw that our trap had been sprung.

In the end, it was all good. We got our star back. And Lumpy was happy(?) because he got his favorite delish. But judging how mellow he was after eating the pho, you’d think the hubbub with the MNU was all a sham. Hmm…maybe it’s the mixture of herbs and spices in the pho’s broth…

We definitely knew everything was back to normal when Lumpy started saying, “Lumpy ha motto pho tabetai,”* much to the horror of our production staff.

Now, all we need is to get back Lumpy’s Agent to translate for us…

The search for Lumpy continues!

Lumpy is still nowhere to be seen. We heard earlier this afternoon from our informants that Lumpy may have been over at San Francisco Japantown, hanging out at the newly opened New People shop/cafe/art space/theater/hotspot that's dedicated to all things J-Pop.

Kinda makes sense, as Lumpy was researching Japanese culture, gameshows, and language before coming to Earth. Being the hipster that he is, Lumpy's a sucker for new and shiny things...even when a shady organization like the MNU may be on the hunt for him. He probably couldn't resist the urge to immerse himself in übercool Japanese stuff...

Lumpy's Facebook friend who went to New People today didn't see him, so she either missed him or maybe he's doing a good job hiding somewhere in the building.

Lumpy's Agent hasn't returned yet either after being picked up by the MNU peeps this afternoon, so we're kinda getting worried here at 2n HQ...

Daily Dish SHOCKER! Lumpy seen with hostile alien space invader?!

We just received an anonymous e-mail tip with the following photograph of Lumpy seen together with a suspicious looking alien who may or may not be part of an advance shock troop sent to invade Earth.

When we asked Lumpy’s Agent about this photograph, he responded angrily that “This photograph is clearly an attempt to defame and slander Lumpy’s good character! We categorically deny any and all allegations that my client has any affiliation or knowledge of this alien being.”

Furthermore, he also questioned the legality of the other alien’s presence on Earth by stating, “Lumpy is a goodwill ambassador and a peace loving entertainer from Zgrunturos. As far as this alien is concerned, we think he’s an illegal sentient lifeform.”

Lost in Translation

We’ve noticed over the last week or so that we’re having a bit of a “lost in translation” problem.

Literally.

The first signs of this communication problem came in the form of one our interns complaining about Lumpy’s alien language. Had we paid more attention back then, we would have figured out that Lumpy was actually speaking Japanese.

What should have been the real wake-up call for us was the sign that Lumpy had made to congratulate the Promo Code Contest winners.

We did a bit of digging, and we discovered the reason for this intergalactic communication mess.

As it turns out, Lumpy studied Japanese before he came to Earth from Zgrunturos.

Lumpy’s agent told him that he was going to be starring in a game show on Earth. Based on that information, Lumpy started to research game shows on Earth. During his research, Lumpy discovered Japanese game shows and got hooked on them because he thought they were the most cutting edge programming he could find on the planet.

After watching hours and hours of Japanese game show footage, Lumpy wound up thinking that everyone on Earth spoke Japanese. So, in an effort to prepare for his debut on Earth, Lumpy took various online crash courses in the Japanese language.

So, the semi-good news is that Lumpy can communicate a little bit with his fans in Japan. The bad news is that until Lumpy gets up to speed in English, we’re stuck with his agent interpreting or translating for him.
