Anatomy of a Tazer 2

There's been some inquiry as to the status of our trusty new Poker the Tazer. We last left you guys with a peek of the wireframe of the contraption.

Well, here is an updated image of it.

Should have some pics up later this week of it zapping Lumpy!

Anatomy of a Tazer

Making a game is hard work. There are moments when you can finally sit back and enjoy the results from all of the sweat and tears. Like seeing the tazer come alive!

In our Design a Poker Challenge, the tazer was selected as the poker of choice from the Audience. Admittedly, we've had this bad boy running in our lab for a few days, but thought that now would be a good time to give you guys a partial peek.

Seeing it in action has brought giggles of delight from some. Lumpy has recently been showing some concern over the attention people have been paying to it. And with batteries slowly disappearing ... one has to wonder if he's really worried.

But that Lumpy is one cool character. "Bring it" is all he says whenever anyone mentions the word tazer...

Poker research - Tazer

The QuitIt! staffers do lots of research into what gets aired on our show, and we mostly always do our due diligence.

One of the candidates in our Design a Poker Challenge was a Tazer, so we immediately dispatched one of our interns to research them. After several days of coffee fueled all-nighters, the intern came across this Tazer.

Judging by its specs, this Tazer thing sounds like overkill. Why would anyone need something like this? Who'd be crazy enough to want to get shot by something like this?

Oh, wait. Maybe... Like. These. People:

Our interns were giggling maniacally and creating quite a commotion in the office while watching the clip repeatedly. Lumpy quickly admonished them saying that lethal and non lethal weapons are serious business, and aren't a laughing matter. Lumpy is a pacifist, and he's all about educating the universe about resolving conflict through peaceful means.

But he also said if they had to taze someone, they should get lots of training and taze responsibly!

Afterwards, the intern who researched the Tazer asked, "So, this means this thing's gonna be in the next episode of QuitIt!, right?"

The intern has been dismissed.

By the way, if you want the Tazer to be included in our next update of QI!, make sure to vote! Based on the current standings, it's neck and neck between the Cow Brander and the Tazer!

Remember, the balance of power is in your mouse click!

Design a Poker Challenge Voting Update

Lumpy would like to remind our fans that the voting for our Design a Poker Challenge is still going on over at TouchArcade. We'll be announcing our results on Monday.

Here's a snapshot of how the voting is going at the moment:

The Cow Brander and the Tazer are running neck and neck. Hmm, Lumpy is getting a bit fidgety now...

If your choice is not in the lead, have your voice heard and vote now!

If you've voted already, thanks for helping us make QuitIt! a better app!

Design a Poker Challenge Voting!

Our lead dev guy Ben and the 2n Productions crew reviewed the poke-tastic responses we got from the TouchArcade forum's Design a Poker Challenge, and we've now posted a poll for everyone to vote on their favorite Poker design.

Lumpy says he would like to thank all the TouchArcaders who participated in the Challenge. But he also says he's a bit nervous about which Poker will win. The Lumpster asked Ben to include the Pillow that was suggested as one of the candidates for the poll, but his choice didn't make the cut.

Well, maybe you'll get your Pillow next time Lumpy!

Poke on over to TouchArcade and poke, poke, poke ...err...vote, vote, vote*!

* This doesn't mean we're encouraging people to vote multiple times. :)

Design a Poker Challenge @ TouchArcade

Our fearless lead dev guy Ben has unleashed the Design a Poker Challenge at TouchArcade.

Here's a section of the post from the B-man himself:
What I’d like to do is to involve everyone in helping to design one of the pokers that will go in the next version of QI!

Here’s the rough plan: Get a bunch of suggestions for pokers from everyone. We’ll then select what we feel are the best 5 ones based on comic payoff and implementation. Next, we’ll have a poll to narrow it down to one.

After we select the winning poker, we’ll keep you guys in the loop until we come up with the final version of the poker.

Feel free to offer up as many suggestions as you like.

Our general rule of thumb for a poker is that it can’t be too religious in nature or offensive to people. Also, we’ll have to pass on suggestions that we feel don’t fall within the humor and spirit of the app.

We want to use this as a trial run in learning how to interact with you, our audience. We want to figure out the best way to work with you as a team. For those of you who are actually developers, you know what I mean. Once we feel our way through this, we can try for more interesting ways of "audience participation" in future updates.
Poke on over to TA to join the fun!
